Hello everyone,
I've been using Captivate 12.5 for 3 months, and I find that everything is very slow.
First, please note that I use other software like 3DS Max, After Effects, and Premiere Pro on the same PC. So, I doubt it's a hardware issue.
Regarding Captivate, even within the interface, everything is sluggish, with a lot of latency between my actions and when Captivate responds.
Also, when I publish my project, the synchronization is off. Elements appear randomly, and there is always a noticeable delay.
I haven't changed any of the software's default settings.
What could be causing this?
Thank you in advance for your help.
See you soon.

Are you working on locally stored project files on your hard drive, or are they stored on a LAN server or virtualised web storage (e.g. OneDrive or similar)?

Everything is stored on a hard drive.

Me too. On Mac. I'm on a deadline now. It's so painful and horrible.

Reach out to captivatehelp@adobe.com for technical support. I know many Mac users running Cp12.5 without issue.

Hello, I sent an email several days ago but haven't received a response from them. So I guess Adobe has no idea what the problem is...

Not sure what other options there are for help/support. I haven't been able to do anything after the update except create a new blank slides. Can't add or edit any blocks and I haven't gotten any response to my emails.

I was able to get them on the phone and they opened a ticket after doing a screen share. I’m not exactly what number I called but you can try: 800-833-6687

Agreed it's insanely sluggish. Every time I want to rearrange slides on the left or rename the slides it takes at least 2 minutes to load. I can create 3D scenes in Blender and even game on my laptop but somehow Captivate runs horribly. I've tried clearing the cache and restarting tons of times too and nothing seems to work.

Dear Captivate,
It's time to say goodbye. I know this might hurt after you spent so many years trying to improve yourself in order to become All NEW. When you first unveiled you new self I was so excited to reunite. Now I see all your changes were just on the surface and you forgot to really look at your core.
IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU.
I so wish you would allow me to copy / paste without wondering if you were listening.
I so wish I could inspect actions without all your inaction.
I so wish you could see all your slides without spinners and more spinners and more spinners
I so wish I could click all over you without the lagging and the crashing and nagging.
So many wishes, it would be hard to document them all here. So many lost hours, it would be nice if I could get them back.
IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU.
Don't ask me to CleanPreferencesMac again
Don't ask me if I'm running on a remote drive
Don't tell me it is my system
Don't ask me if we are sharing video or graphics, for our current relationship is empty of those beautiful things.
It will take me a while to completely move out, for unfortunately our lives are intertwined. I don't know who will replace you, bout that is another Storyline.
IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU. IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU. IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU.
P.S. When we found support together, in all the screen shares, and chats online, our support team really did their best. The support was great, and we couldn't have tried harder. I just think, Captivate, you put them in a situation they could not fix.

After two weeks without a response from Adobe, I find it shameful to charge so much for an annual subscription when the software doesn't work and Adobe offers no solution.
I'll keep that in mind...

I, too, am getting worried about 12.5 and it's hard-to-use sluggishness!
Yesterday, I upgraded my laptop to the following:
• ASUS ProArt P16
• AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370
• 32GB RAM
• 1TB SSD
• NVIDIA RTX 4070
The laptop is very fast with everything, but sadly still not with Captivate 12.5!
My current 12.5 project has only 50 slides to date, little audio, no video but lots of variables and interactions on many slides.
For instance, if I edit an action say on an Assign Variable interaction, nothing happens for over 15 seconds. If I then click ‘discard’, another 10-15 seconds goes by.
This happens on so many other clicks around the course which makes development VERY difficult.
Funny enough, I have a certain Captivate Classic project with 250 slides (lots of audio, video, etc) and I can edit that perfectly in Classic!
I, too, have an enquiry sent to Adobe technical. Waiting a response.

Yesterday I was working on the final actions in a project that has 150 slides and almost no graphics. Everything crawled to a halt and it sometimes took up to 10 seconds (usually 3 - 5) simply for the done button to light up blue so I could attempt to save my actions. I crashed upon publishing a number of times. The same file was tested on Mac and PC with both machines handling large files, rendering 3-D and other memory intensive processes. This is absolutely 100% a programming flaw with captivate

Yep, my new laptop (received this morning) is a pretty high spec to be honest and I couldn't quite believe it when the sluggishness was still there. Hadn't improved at all!
My project has lots of use of variables/interactions on many slides, but hardly any audio and no video. I am therefore wondering whether 12.5 can't cope with 'complex' projects, even though at 50 slides (to date), I don't think mine particularly is so far. Have to wonder (as you strongly suggest) whether 12.5 has a programming issue and whether 12.6 will solve that (of whether it will just focus on new features).

Sadly, the new version 12.6 hasn't helped at all with the sluggishness issue. I was hoping that this would be one of the 'bug fixes', but it continues to be so frustrating.

I wrote to Adobe, who didn't get a response.
So I'm paying every month for software that doesn't work and is causing me to lose contracts.
I want to be able to cancel the subscription free of charge. But I guess Adobe doesn't care.
