Hi, I have an issue that is frustrating and I cannot find solution so far, so I need some help.

I am using Captivate 2019 amd creating interactive elearning materials using Recording -> Video Demo with custom resolution of 1680*945, that is the size of application window I am recording.

Slide is created as CPVC file, actually I created around 30 slides (with interactive buttons inserted in them) and when I publish all of them are OK except ONE.

One slide is published as corrupted MP4 file with size of 0kb. Slide is working fine inside Captivate but when published it is not working.

All slides are created in the same way, and I cannot find why is that happening.

Does anybody have any idea how to fix that? I want to use cpvc slide without the need to rerecord it again.

Can you check the full version number (there were issues with Video Demo in one of the first releases). Check it under Help, About Captivate. The present Windows version is 11.5.5.553.

Did you create the cpvc slides from within a cptx file? Or did you create them as standalone cpvc files, publish to MP4 and insert them as MP4? If you have the standalone files, could you publish that one to MP4?

Version I am using is 11.5.5.553

CPVC slides are created directly from Captivate. I record video demo and then save it as cpvc. I do not created saparate MP4 files, they are created in VR folder when published.

You don't seem to understand my question: did you create all the cpvc slides immediately in one cptx project using the big button Slides, or did you import the CPVC files with the Insert menu in a new project. I must have explained wrongly, you just excluced that you didn't import them as published slide video. Is it not possible to recreate just that video in Video Demo?

I created every cpvc slide as separate video demo recording and then imported in cptx project.

It is possible to recreate that single video, but it cause organizational issues like having silence around me because it has long explanatory naration, and in open space environment that is the problem.

If the slide is working fine inside Captivate why it is not working when published?

The cpvc slide may play fine, but something seems to be wrong when publishing.

You have the audio clip in the Library, you can import it to the video after recapturing the video. The audio you 'record' during the capturing can remain silent, it is possible to replace it by another audio clip. That is what I do mostly, just do a draft ausio during capture, later on I create the final audio clip in Audition to replace the draft.

Thank you for idea, I would try that once.

I solved it with somewhat unusual idea.

My published project had one MP4 with size of 0kb

  • I created new blank project and imported that problematic cpvc slide.
  • I published that blank project with one slide and with that I got MP4 with correct size and it is working.
  • Renamed that MP4 with the name of 0kb-sized MP4 from original project and copied it
  • Paste it over in VR folder of original project to replace corrupted mp4.

Everything works! Hopefully it helps someone else.

That was indeed what I had in mind as well, but I may not have explained correctly.

I have tried your workflow in the past, but found out that to create the complete video in one cpvc project is a better way. You can continue recording at the end of an existing cpvc-file. That allows to do the recording in short clips. I finish each clip before adding more recording. Alternative is to combine all the clips after publishing to MP4 in an editor like Premiere Pro.

You labeled this project as being 'interactive', but which interactivities do you mean?
