Hi,

Installed Captivate 8 trial on Mac OSX 10.6.8 and after successful installation Captivate doesn't respond upon launch!

Just checked the tech requirements and states 10.9 OSX is needed so is that what's causing this crash?

Do I need to update to Yosemite then...?

Thanks

Not working for me either.

Cleaning preferences won't work.

The delete system fonts suggestion I saw on another forum: BAD MISTAKE, don't do it!

Simply hangs on start, not responding.

Mac OS 10.10.5

Yes, the ridiculous Java SE 6 Runtime is installed.

Hi There,

Please perform the below steps-

1- Captivate 8 was not tested on Mac OS 10.6. It is tested on Mac OS 10.7,10.8 or v10.9, iOS 7.0.3 (for iPad).

2- Could you please confirm are you getting any error when trying to launch Cp 8 or it simply hangs on launch?

3- Can you try to enable the "root" user account with the help of instructions given in the link - Enabling and using the "root" user in OS X - Apple Support

4- Once root user has been enabled then try to login under that account and launch Cp 8 and see if it works. If it do not work then please reinstalling it once under the root user account and see if that makes any difference.

Regards,

Ajit

I can see that this issue is a bit old, but I wanted to respond, in case anyone with the same issue might find this helpful:

I had the same issue described by the original poster.  I signed up for a trial of Captivate 9, and upon launch, Captivate stopped responding.  I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, etc.

I came across this blog post, which helped me solve my problem:

I Came, I Saw, I Learned...: Adobe Captivate: A Font Frenzy

In the post, the user describes using a methodical technique to remove and re-add his fonts one at a time, since he had reason to believe the issue may have been related to a font.  Ultimately, he noted that one of his fonts had an umlaut in its name, and once that font was removed, Captivate launched.

I sorted through my font list and found on that included a ? as part of its name.  I deleted that font, and Captivate immediately began working.  So as a starting point, look through your font list and remove any (or rename any) that have atypical characters in their names.

Best,

Julia
