I have a text caption with 4 links I want to convert to hyperlinks, so that the user doesn't have to see the super long URL. I cut the URL and highlighted the text that needs the hyperlink, but the hyperlink options available prevent me from adding the link. I have modify and delete hyperlink, but neither button does anything. I can't add the hyperlink to the text. The text doesn't technically have a hyperlink at the moment, so I can understand why the delete doesn't work, but the modify hyperlink doesn't do anything.
I tried adding a new text caption, but those same broken options are available.
I did a test on a different slide with an actual hyperlink, and the modify hyperlink button worked fine. It opened the modify window as expected.
The only thing I can do that works is to create a smart shape that is transparent on the slide to operate like a regular text caption.
I have found a workaround, but was curious if anyone has encountered something similar and could shed light. If not, I supposed I'll submit a bug or whatever?

Perhaps you can get something from my video on the topic:

Looks like your video only covers adding a hyperlink and then doing it with an Advanced Action. I think what I'm seeing is different. I have text and text that is a URL in one caption but the modify and delete hyperlink buttons don't do anything. I'm then not able to edit the text the way I need.
I recreated it from scratch, but I still wasn't able to use a text caption. I had to use a smart shape.
Thanks!
