Captivate 9 Object Style Manager Crashing

OK - simple enough - my system was running fine and I was able to use the style manager and preferences without any issues. In the midst of developing a responsive project, I opened the object stlyle manager to reset the smart shapes defaults and it opened blank. I would not go away without resorting to crtl-alt-delete to terminate the program.

I cleared the caches and reopened Captivate. Before I opened a project, I opened the Object Style Manager to set the defauilts and found the same behavior. I went into the back end and ran the Clean Preferences bat file and reopened Captivate. The Object Style Manager is still opening blank and crashing the program. On running the task manager to shut down the program, the Object Style Manager closed earlier than the program once and uncovered a fatal error message that indicated a backup file had been created. There are no backup files anywhere (not a problem, all these errors occurred early on or even before a file was opened).

Thoughts?

I'm still using that version as well (see too much issues to upgrade my workstation at this moment). Although I have rather frequent crashes, never experienced the problem you are describing. Especially since you cleared the Preferences. Do you clear the cache regularly? Was this the first version of 9 installed on your system or did you upgrade from 9.0.0 to 9.0.1? Since it looks to be linked with styles, can you try to delete the Layouts folder in the Public documents, while CP is closed? When

Did you upgrade to 9.0.2?

Hey Lieve -

No, as a matter of fact, I just looked at the versioning number - my IT folks pushed me from 8 to 9 with 9.0.1.322, now I'm showing as running 9.0.1.320.

9.0.1.233, not .322

Maybe corruption is in some themes? Did you try to change a theme?

Thanks, Lieve! Removing the Layouts folder reset the program - now all I have to do is get IT to  allow me to run this as an admin and life would be good.

I'm having the same problem with Captivate 2017 and mac.  I tried to change the global styles so that I don't have to do it every time I do a simulation for the same project, which does not load the custom project styles.  Now the default styles have disappeared and every time I open the styles form a project, Captivate crashes. I just can't work anymore and I'm starting to get very frustrated....

I already reinstalled, cleaned the cache, cleaned the preferences, created another user and the issue replicates in the same way.  So, it is not my user as technical support suggested. The issue reproduces itself with any user.

I don't see any Layouts folder.  Where is that?  Don't know what else to try.

Thanks!
