Captivate Audio won't play in timeline, closed captioning/edit, or preview

I've recently got Captivate Classic installed after having Captivate 2017.  I've imported audio to a new project.  The audio won't play in the timeline.  Yes, the little audio icon is not muted.  The audio also won't play in closed captioning/edit window.  The time line marker won't even move ahead.  If I play the preview (F8) it won't play there either.  The only time it plays is if I use Preview Project.  This is the same for all my previous Captivate files that were originally created in Captivate 2017 and opened in Captivate Classic.

I have tried exporting the audio files, renaming them and importing them back in without any success.

To be honest Captivate has become more and more frustrating!  

Any ideas?

Do you mean version 11.8.2? It is rather buggy indeed, but try to install the update to 11.8.3 which was released today. In this version all the SWF-related features were taken out, you cannot use F8 anymore. The only valid preview method is F11, Preview HTML in Browser (team put Project under Preview menu but it is identical to F11). Look under the menu, you'll not find the other options which were available anymore if it is a non-responsive project which is saddening because they are available for fluid boxes projects.

Please try the update. I have to tell that some of my clients also had problems when opening projects created in previous versions of CP2019 in this new Captivate Classic version.

I will try, however my IT department takes a huge amount of time QAing "new" software.

I think I can keep creating projects but making sure the timing of the audio is very basic as it will be a nightmare to edit. I think the best solution is to look for a new software to create my elearning unfortunately.

Completely understand, there are many reasons why I try to keep version 11.5.5.553 on one of my systems because it is much more reliable.

I don't see that type of problem mentioned in the release notes of the new version 11.8.3 but maybe?
