Captivate Background Music

Guest

I loop background music in my movies. I am discovering that not all users can concentrate with music playing in the background, while others can. Is there a way to allow a user to turn the music off during the movie?

Hi 928GT and welcome to our community

If you are using one of the Flash based playback controls supplied with Captivate 2 or 3, there should be a Mute button already on the control.

If you aren't using a Playback Control, you are probably interested in a widget developed by fellow Adobe Community Expert Paul Dewhurst. Click here to visit Paul's site. If you like what you see and find it useful, hold your applause and throw change!

Cheers... Rick

Thanks for the input, I do have the Audio Off button in the skin, but this also Mutes the VoiceOver. I am looking for a way to Mute only the background music, not the voice over.

I'm interested in the same problem, namely, I have a background sound that loops and I want to have a control on the demonstration that optionally turns off or lowers the volume of the background sound, leaving the voice-over unaffected.

At present, I turn the sound down when there's a voice-over on the slide. I think I have it set to 25%. But, some users don't want it at all.

Is there a way to turn it off? A javascript call perhaps?

I am also looking for a way to do this. I am using Captivate 5.5 to create a series of tutorials. Some of the users like the background music in the tutorials but some users want to be able to turn the background music off. They need to be able to turn off the background music without turning off the voice-over portion of the audio.
