I've seen the posts similar to this from 2014, 2015, etc. I have Captivate 2019. I inherited the CPTX file in which the Continue button was transparent, positioned off the stage / slide, and unused / unpublished in the LMS. I now need to enable the Continue button by changing the style and position on the quiz results slide. It publishes fine, and the Continue button now appears at the end of the SCORM. I also checked the Publish Settings > Quiz > Pass or Fail. It is set to continue on pass and continue on fail. And pass is required with multiple attempts allowed. I checked the settings for the Continue button, and "Allow Mouse Click" is enabled, though shaded.
However, in the LMS, the Continue button merely changes color / appearance on a down click but no action results from it as expected. I also checked it in the Preview, and the same problem occurs. I can click on it, but the Continue button has no impact. Why doesn't the Continue button work as expected (i.e. closing the SCORM at the conclusion)? How can I solve this, please? Thank you!

The Allow Mouse Click option is greyed out because the Continue button is not an ordinary button and it has certain special characteristics that cannot be changed. It is a critical component of the Quiz Results slide and cannot be replaces with another normal button.
You mentioned that Pass is required. If you are referring to the Required dropdown in the Quiz Settings, I would suggest you try setting this to Optional (as shown below) then republish and test in your LMS to see if that resolves the issue with the Continue button not working.

Thank you so much! I changed the setting to Optional, but it did not work in the LMS or in Preview. Thanks again, Rod!! 🙂

As Rod already explains, the buttons on quiz and score slide are embedded objects, having quiz features programmed. Embedded means they do not have an individual timeline, not in the master slide nor on the normal slide. It is a bad idea to take out an embedded object from the score/quiz slides, if you cannot disable it using one of the Quiz Properties or Quiz Preferences choices. Styling is always possible for all quizzing objects, which are a special category in the Object Style Manager.
I hope you did restore the results master slide to get the functionality of the Continue button restored. It is as important as the Submit button on question slides. It is pausing the score slide, and triggering the Pass/Fail actions on Quiz level: those will happen at the last frame of the score slide since you kept it those actions set to 'Continue'. Do you have another side after the score slide, which is recommended?
Maybe have a look at this basic blog post, part of a short Quiz course:
