Captivate Hyperlink Accessibility

Community Beginner ,

Hi, I am currently looking into some of the ways that elements can be made accessible within Captivate projects, and I've run into a couple of issues concerning hyperlinks. Normally, for things like buttons or even plain text, a screen reader like JAWS will completely ignore it in a Captivate project unless the text is copied into the accessibility name/description fields.

However, I'm finding that JAWS does read the text of hyperlinks without having to add anything to the accessibility name field. So, if the hyper link is "Additional Resources", JAWS will simply say "Additional Resources." The problem is, it doesn't distinguish this as a link. We thought we would get around this by adding the text "Link Additional Resources" to the accessibility name field, but then JAWS will read the text on the slide in addition to this offscreen text, causing the user to hear "Additional Resources, Link Additional Resources." Furthermore, when navigating a slide using the arrow keys with JAWS, I am only able to activate the link with a keyboard when I hear it for the first time. When I tap the down arrow key again I hear the accessibility name read, which lets me know it is a link, but I can no longer hit enter on the keyboard to activate it. That's because JAWS has moved past the actual link on the page, and is now reading the metadata associated with it.

Sorry for the long and probably overly complicated explanation. Does anyone have any suggestions?
