Captivate source code available for Cp Users? Why not?

I love Captivate. I have since Cp4. Love Cp9. Can't wait til Cp10!

Having said this however, I look at sites like blogs.articulate.com and am just incredulous at the amount of material they put out on their website. And it's not just specific to Articulate either. Plenty of the material there is just eLearning agnostic in terms of resources and writings by folks within the industry. On just one page in there, they showed a collection of 800 samples of elearning interactions from the general public that submitted free source code to them, which could be used in everybody else's Storyline work.

We have such fantastic people that preach about Captivate here, and I'd put their years of experience in eLearning and various toolsets above anyone else in the industry. But why can't Adobe do more to foster community interaction like what they are doing over at that other company? Surely that has got to help draw even more interest into Cp? I mean - do we have a resource at level of activity of sharing? Are there plans to do such an environment in the future? If not - why not? Adobe could swallow up Articulate if they wanted to - they definitely have the capabilities.

Meanwhile, I will gaze longingly at these to see how I can spice things up. They're pretty slick.

Users can learn so much, so much more quickly by learning from example. If a user is able to upload a .cptx file showing what they think is the greatest interaction since "the rollover button" - why not let them do so, so people can download it and view it? We can all learn from each other.

Just my

sigh

For what it's worth Kevin, I COMPLETELY AGREE with you.

Ok - know what's REALLY weird? Clicking on this Adobe Presenter 11 link on this page

Adobe - eLearning Solutions - E-Learning Software and Tools for Authoring and Development

... takes me to a Captivate 9 page:

It didn't for me, but I clicked on the Seminars and Events tab...they show seminar for CP8 and one for Presenter 9...

Kevin, you don't realize how  often I am  frustrated about the way Captivate is treated on the Adobe website. Some months ago the forums for Captivate were not even in the dropdown list for several days. I had to plead to put it back.

If you hover over the "Product Spotlight" where Presenter 11 is shown, it takes you to the Captivate 9 page. But on the far right sidebar, it does take you to the right page. Perhaps it's just a webdev error.

Wow - didn't even list the forums for a couple of days? Amazing. They need to treat their own product with a little more respect. They're underselling themselves.

Could this be the start of something in the mix?

Adobe KnowHow

Kind of disappointed that so far only 12 offerings are free - hopefully that would change.

Did you hear me sighing? Personally I have worked very hard to provide some free stuff, but rarely find any support from Adobe. I think Rod would agree there as well. This means I fully understand your ranting,  but are very skeptical about someone from Adobe reading your complaint.

I mean, the lack of promotion for Captivate is just deafening. For example...

  1. If I were to look for Captivate from Adobe, and went to their website, I'd first go to Adobe.com
  2. Once there I would go to, one would assume - to - Desktop Downloads
  3. On the subsequent page, it would only list the Creative Cloud apps, of which Captivate is not a part, so in the top-right Menu button I'd select the See All link
  4. While it shows more than the CC apps (including Bridge which is a free add-on for CC ? ), it doesn't list Captivate
  5. The only way I was able to find it was to do a general adobe.com search.

Is this true for everyone else? Does this mean something for the future for the tool? I mean - Adobe has always been focused on the creative end. Please forgive me for being paranoid but, uh, not showcasing what is supposed to be one of the primary training dev tools is kind of freaking me out. It shouldn't be so hard to find.

Hello Adobe - I know this is a community forum - but who would a person contact at adobe to address this? One of the Adobe Pros like Dr. Poojah Jaisingh? Dr Allen Partridge?

Thanks,

Kevin

Also - downloading Adobe source files?

Adobe Captivate, Presenter & eLearning Suite Examples « Rapid eLearning | Adobe Captivate Blog

Hopefully they transition the format to this Adobe KnowHow site design. I haven't seen the latter before, has anyone else?

LATEST

KnowHow exists since at least two years. The sample files are always included with the installation of Captivate. In Captivate 9 you can access them from the Welcome screen and even from a project screen (the monitor icon to the right of the Help menu). What you seem to discover is all but new.
