Hi

I have added interactive buttons to slides in Captivate but these are not working when publishing to video. Can you please give me a heads up if this is possible and how to do it? Thanks so much

The MP4 format is by definition a passive video, which means that you lose all interactivity. Do not be confused by the buttons in a video player, because they are only meant to control the playing of the video, they are NOT part of the published output.

If you want an interactive tutorial, you need to publish to HTML5 and upload the published folder to a webserver or a LMS (if you activated reporting).

Have a look at this basic introduction to interactivity:

Thank you so much! I was hoping for a way to add to the video by importing it back into captivate but it doesnt let you preview to know where to add buttons.

The problem is not with Preview (which is possible) but with your choice of output: passive video, which excludes automatically all interactive objects, and buttons are interactive objects. Why do you not create an interactive video? Here is a link to an example of an interactive video, where you'll see that I added buttons (and more):

Custom Play/Pause button

Such an interactive video is published to HTML5 and needs to be uploaded to a webserver (as is the case here).
