CP9 VTT - How do I get "Valid Verification File"?

Participant ,

Hello.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me where I can get a "valid verification file" for the Voice To Text (VTT), VTML editor that installs WITH the CP9 voices? Each time you try to adjust the voice files, the voice tells you that you are using an unlicensed version and cannot legally use them unless you have a "valid verification file". WTH? Why would Adobe do this?

In the editor, if you select Help --> About -  you get this;

When you click the link shown at the bottom of the window, you get this:

WTH? What CD key? The VTML editor comes with, and installs with, the CP9 voices of Bridget, Chloe, James, Julie, Kate, Paul and Yumi.

I called Adobe Customer Support as I/we are Adobe CP9 customers, they had no idea what I was talking about. They told me to contact NeoSpeech. So, I called them. Neospeech had no idea what I was referring, or even what CP9 was but offered to sell me a server license for $5000.00 to use the voices that installed.

I am confused. These voices are offered for free as an addon/upgrade for CP9. The VTML editor comes with the install of these voices.

Does anyone here know how to solve this? I can't be the only person that's come across this and it is very frustrating.

When you install the Text to Speech component of Adobe Captivate you are installing a limited version of the Neospeech VoiceText editor software. You'll notice that you can freely use the speech agents from within Captivate itself but there is no shortcut to the editor in your Windows Start Menu. Update:

Tuesday 11:38pm PST.

I have been trying to contact this company all morning. I just tried calling NeoSpeech, again, but after an additional 3 attempts, they are still not answering their phone.

NeoSpeech: Text-to-Speech (TTS) Software

Bottom of the page is their phone number. Maybe someone else has better luck.

Adobe is licensing the software on your behalf and it is required to install the trial version of the VoiceText editor for the speech agent to work. The only way to have full access to the VoiceText editor is to purchase a full speech agent from Neospeech. I inquired with them about 5 years ago and was able to determine that this would cost about $1000 USD. It may, in fact, be more today.

Hi Paul,

Ok thank you.

Just another question, the neospeech editor says we are not legally allowed to use the speech agents in our courses unless we have a 'valid verification file'. As most CP9 users are building courses for more than just ourselves to participate in, the concern is whether or not we are vulnerable to copyright infringement?

Is this accurate?
