Hello folks,
I have a requirement to place an always visible TOC to the left of the lesson. Unfortunately, I have not been successful in building one that is dynamic (automatically updates with the slide names of the lesson).
So, in desparation, I selected the stock Captivate 6 TOC function. Unfortunately, there are frustratingly few customization options with Captivate's built-in TOC.
I could opt for an always on TOC if only I could place a LOGO within the TOC.
For example:
***************************************************************************************************
** GRAPHIC LOGO ** <-- 190 x 40 pixels space for a image at top of TOC *
***************************************************************************************************
* Slide 1 * Body of lesson *
* Slide 2 *
* Slide 3 *
* *
The reason for this is that I am not getting a whole lot of support for hiding the TOC and having a hard to see arrow (intruding on the company logo) in the top left corner of the lesson.
I am also dismayed to find that there is very little in terms of TOC widgets available.
I posted a mock-up of what I am trying to accomplish.
Is there a way to do this (with or without a widget) with the following functions:
- Appear on every page
- Dynamically listed pages
- Automatic indication of which section the learner is on
Is this possible?
Thank you

You can add a logo graphic to the TOC, but you don't currently have any control over sizing etc.
You use the Separate mode TOC if you want it to be present on every slide rather than sliding in or or out. However, on Cp 5.5 and up you also now have the option of triggering slide in or slide out of the Overlay TOC using a system variable. You can trigger this ON Slide Enter, or via an interactive object such as a button or click box. So if you wanted the TOC to appear or disappear when you get to a certain slide, you can do this.
If you make changes to the slides or slide names in your project, you will need to regenerate the TOC to update the list it shows, then publish. That's currently the only option you have.
The default TOC has check marks and changes colour to show which section the user is currently on. In my experience these work quite well. Are you not using this?
If you have suggestions for how you think the TOC should work, feel free to log an enhancement request using the form provided here on the forum. That's the best way to lobby for improvements. Just talking about stuff here in a post doesn't necessarily get anywhere.

Thank you Rod,
You have reminded me of a few things I had forgotten about.
After going full-steam, for a long time, in Lectora... I have now switched gears and focusing exclusively on Captivate development. I might need a hand from time to time but hopefully, I shall soon be giving back to the community again.
Thanks again.
