Finding object dimensions in Captivate 9

I am putting this in a new post as I was unable to add it to @Saurav Ghosh earlier post. I am a visual learner so find it helpful to have a visual reference. See below for the reference image.

To find the object dimensions there are two ways to accomplish this.

First you can see its dimensions in brackets when you select and hover your mouse over the object.

Secondly, these dimension can also be found by going to properties inspector tab.

Once there select the “Options” sub-tab. This will show the “Audio” and “Transform dialogue boxes.

In the “Transform” information dialogue box it shows four values.

The first two are the 2D X and Y co-ordinates values indicating the objects position on the page.

The final two are the objects dimension (see highlight boxes for reference). These dimensions are indicated in pixels.

To edit the objects dimensions, you can either do it in this dialogue box or alternatively resize the object using the drag box handles on the selected shape.

Constraining proportions will allow you to change the dimensions of on size and it will automatically match the other. For example if I change the height by 10 pixels it will change the width proportion to match thereby retaining the objects proportions.

Checking the lock size and position box will prevent the object being moved or changed on screen.

The angle option allows you to rotate your object as necessary depending on the angle you require.

Hope this helps.

For a responsive project (Captivate 2017), setting the width and height of an object is a little different. Select the object (e.g. smart shape) and click on the properties button (top right of screen). Select the Position tab. In the Properties tab you cannot set the dimensions of a responsive project (only for not responsive projects). In the Object Size panel, switch to pixels (px) for both the width and height. Now, you can set the dimensions of the object. Of course, you will loose the responsiveness for this object (it is set in absolute terms).
