Glow effect flickering between slides

Captivate 5.0.

I have a text box with the outer glow effect (to create a drop-shadow).  The text box is on 2 slides, to give the effect that it is the same box across two slides.  However, the outer glow effect flickers between the slides.  The text box doesn't flicker.  Only the outer glow flickers.

Here are my settings.  Let me know if you need a copy of the captivate file.

Slide A

Text box Fade In Only..

Glow effect displays during entire duration of text box.

Text box set to display for rest of slide.

Slide B:

Text box same size and location asa Slide A

Glow effect set to start at beginning of text box

Text box to Fade Out Only.

I remember this was a known limitation with dropshadow effects applied to objects on sequential slides in Captivate 5.

It works much better in Cp 5.5.  In fact in Cp 5.5 you can apply a drop shadow either using Effects or via the new Shadow accordion and neither will flicker between slides.

I created a quick test project in Cp 5.5 to confirm this. I had several slides with two text captions on each using the different dropshadow implementations.  None of them flickered.

In the past, when I wanted to have a dropshadow remain constant over more than one slide I would create the object as a SWF in Flash or as an image and then import it to the separate slides in Captivate.  Nowadays, thanks to Cp's much better native dropshadow effects, I never need to do that.

Rod,

Thanks for the intput.  I'll use this a leverage to try to get us to upgrade to Captivate 5.5.  I'm assuming that Captivate 6 isn't coming out for another year or so...

Captivate 6 will be out VERY soon.  I suggest you wait for an announcement that anyone upgrading to Cp 5.5 will automatically get Cp6 upgrade when it ships.  You won't have long to wait.  That's all I'm allowed to say.
