Hello ,

Welcome to Adobe Forums!

Could you please check the exact version of Adobe Captivate (Go to Help > About Adobe Captivate) and Microsoft powerpoint  ?

Make sure Captivate should be updated to 7.0.1.237.

Please check the option of High Fidelity while importing the slides .

Thanks and Regards

Himanshu Satija

Hi Guys,

I am having the same issue, only anytime I try to import a smartart animation I get an error message and Captivate quits.

I am using Captivate 7 64bit version 7.0.1.237 on Windows 7 pro 64-bit with MS Powerpoint 2007.

Steps

1. I create a new powerpoint project.

2. Create a new slide and add a SmartArt Object (Stacked Venn in this example)

3. Apply text labels to the Stacked Venn (I labeled as 1,2,3 and 4)

Note: Everything imports into Captivate properly at this point using high fidelity.

4. Click animations tab and add "animate one by one" (in my example I chose fade one by one)

Now try to import into Captivate with High Fidelity checked. Captivate produces the following error:

''A fatal error has occurred and the application is being terminated. Adobe Captivate has tried to save all your work in the respective project folders as ".cpbackup" files.   Please restart Adobe Captivate"

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Hello,

Please run Adobe Captivate as administrator and the see if you still face this issue .

Please make sure that the powerpoint you are importing must be saved on alocal computer and not on a network drive.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

1. I have full administrator rights.

2. Powerpoint file is stored locally on desktop.

Any other ideas?

Hello ,

Can you right click on Captivate icon and then click on Run as admin ?

I tested the same workflow and it works fine , the error which you mentioned above is basically becasue of rights only.

Thanks

Hi Himanshu,

I have opened both Captivate and PowerPoint by right-clicking and selecting "Run as admin".

The same error message appears, followed by Captivate closing. I have built a new PowerPoint and saved it while it is open as an administrator. The same error appears.

Any other ideas?

This is not a fix but if I break apart the SmartArt (so it is no longer smartart) in PowerPoint I can import the animations. However, when the slide is imported the SmartArt loses it's colours and looks terrible in BOTH Captivate and PowerPoint. Please see images.
