How to create two correct responses on the same slide - Captivate 4

I am building a simulation in Captivate 4. In one step of the simulation, the user needs to move from one field to another field.

Simple explanation:

They can do so in either two ways: 1) Clicking anywhere in the field they want to move to, or 2) Clicking a button that moves them to the field.

More detailed explanation:

I am teaching them how to log in on a handheld device. The login screen has a Username field and a Password field. The login screen also has an image of a keyboard that they must tap with a stylus to enter their username and password.

In the simulation I am building, their username is LAR and their password is 789632. When the login screen displays, the cursor is in the Username field, so they just tap the L key that is on the screen keyboard, then the A, then the R. After they've entered their username, they can either tap the TAB key that is on the screen keyboard to move to the Password field or they can click anywhere in the Password field.

I can't set a Shortcut because the TAB is not REALLY the TAB key like it is on a regular keyboard - it's just a button or clickbox on the handheld screen.

Is my only option to branch to different, but identical looking slides?

Any suggestions? I'm not a Flash programmer.

Having two ways to get to a slide that shows a given field as active for typing input isn't all that difficult.  You just need an initial slide with two clickboxes.  One is placed over the field, and the other is placed over the relevant button that would move them to the field.

But you are nowhere out of the woods yet with that solution. One thing I don't understand is: How are you getting the typing text to work?  How is clicking a clickbox over a key on the fake keyboard going to result in letters appearing inside the username or password fields that can then be evaluated by Captivate to decide whether or not the user typed the required text?

Text input in Captivate is normally only possible from the keyboard.  So have you cracked that issue yet?

I'm finding it VERY difficult to have two ways to get to another slide.

Putting two click boxes on a slide does not work. Both must be on the Timeline at the same time. The click box that is first (in vertical position) on the Timeline works, but the one that is below it doesn't.

Also, regarding the typing text. I'm not using Text Entry boxes or having input confirmed. I'm just using a click box for the characters on the keyboard and using one slide for each character. The only drawback to this is that there is no flashing cursor.

I recently solved a similar problem on a course I was creating.  The solution required a widget.

Go take a look at this recent blog post on my website: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/beat_cp_interactive_catch22

Maybe this will nelp your situation.
