I understand you shouldn't use system shortcuts in a Captivate simulation, so any suggestions for how to best simulate the CTRL+C and CTRL+V for the learner without frustrating them? I am simulating a computer program that only allows CTRL+C and CTRL+V and does NOT allow using right-click on the mouse, so the only way to copy and paste is by using the shortcuts. Suggestions how to best accomplish this in Captivate?

Hi there
Perhaps use a small image of a keyboard and have them click the appropriate keys that would be pressed?
If you are using Windows 7, try clicking the Start button and typing "On Screen Keyboard" to get a sense of what I'm talking about.

Seems "clunky". I'm going to try that for the practice simulation and for the assessment simulation I'm instructing them to press CTRL+C and then click on the next field, having the interaction be the click field rather than the key press. Still not optimal, but users were getting frustrated with the CTRL+C and CTRL+V not working, even though I was making it a 1 try and continue. Thanks anyway for the suggestion. Happy New Year! --erin

What do you want to simulate Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V for? If it's a bit of text, you can use the TextArea widget and those windows shortcuts will work in Captivate like native shortcuts.
