I have reliably compiled the same project many times, now when I publish, the resultant web product fails midway through execution. It simply brings up a blank slide, after 3 slides execute correctly and then just sits there. There were no changes to cause the failure. It appears that the html5 compiler in Captivate is busted. The output fails with either Chrome or Edge.
Using Captivate 9.0.2, WIndows 10 all up to date.I have flushed the cache and cleaned up all unused items, checked the HTML5 tracker. No problems reported.
Has anyone seen a similar pattern?
You mean headless loading of the CpExtra widget? I also had some issues with some projects, got back to putting it in each project individually.

Cleaning up unused items has no effect on the published file. It is not clear to me: is the published file always stopping on the same slide? How did you test: after uploading to a webserver is the best (sometimes the only) way to test.
Did you have the same issues when Previewing HTML in Browser (F1)? Or is it a responsive project, not a normal project?
Latest version is 9.0.2.437

Like I said, I have published the same project many times before. The project runs using the local project. It runs in the Browser publishing, It does not run in the HTML5 Browser, or the full publishing mode. It seems not to be able to get past slide 3 of the project, regardless of what slide 3 is. It hangs up and displays a blank screen with the controls at the bottom. Those do not work. I am using an XMAPP web server. I am also using Captivate 9.0.2.437. The problem occurs using either Edge or Google Chrome.

Do you publish both to SWF and HTML? Did you try to publish only to HTML? I experienced issues when publishing to both SWF and HTML, using the multiscreen.html file as launch file.

I only publish to HTML5. This project cannot be supported by SWF.

Have you tested whether Captivate can publish a DIFFERENT project file at all?
Try creating a new blank project and throw a few quiz questions into it so that there are more than three slides then test whether it can be published to HTML5. If it can, the the Captivate publishing functionality is not broken. Something in your current project is fouling things up.
Try copying all slides into a new project shell of the same size to see if that fixes it. If a project becomes corrupted sometimes this tactic will strip out the corruption.

Hi Rod,
Yes I have tried three 10 or more slide projects. All fail with the
embedded CPExtra. They all work without the embedded Widget. I have now
tried these same projects with CPExtra added on a separate slide, i.e. not
embedded. All the projects compile and run correctly in that configuration.
The part that is puzzling to me is that the embedded CPExtra projects all
worked many times in the past with no failures. Then they quit working, and
the failures show up part way through the project's execution.
To answer your specific questions, I have tried copying the slides into a
new shell with the same results. Adobe and I spent 3 hours on the phone
yesterday going through my configuration. They reloaded Captivate, checkeds
all variables and then they verified that there was nothing on my system
that could have conflicted with Captivate. After that exercise, I feel that
my Captivate installation is working correctly. At this point in time, the
only Widget that I am using is CPExtra. I searched the forums for any
similar problems and found none. I didn't disclose that I thought the
problem was with CPExtra, but no one had entered a similar set of Captivate
symptoms.
Best Regards,
Bill
