Is there a way to force a pasted object to honor the slide duration?

Hi Community!

Let's say I have a slide with a few objects and all have a duration of 1 second. If I paste an object from another slide that has a duration of 3 seconds, Captivate expands the duration of the slide to accomodate this new object. However, I would like for the object to use the target slide duration timing instead.

On a side note, I have noticed sometimes pasted objects conform to the target slide duration and at other times they change the slide duration. Unfortunately, I can't see what differences between slides cause this behavior. I am hoping that there is a setting somewhere that would allow me to control this behavior. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If the pasted object duration is show for rest of slide in the original, it won't change the slide length when you paste it in the new project. I'd just change it to that duration before copy-pasting and then adjust it accordingly when it's in the new project.

Hope that helps.

When I install Captivate I always set up some global Preferences. One of them  is to edit the default duration of most objects, from 3 seconds to 'Rest of sldie'. Because that is mostly what I will need in all projects. Have a look at my setup, here for button:

As for the difference between attached to end of slide (red triangle) and for rest of slide,  you wouldn't have to bother about them anymore. The red trianlge, which means end of the object timeline is attached to the end of the slide timeline, you wouldn't see it appear anymore.
