MenuBuilder table of contents

I have a MenuBuilder table of contents that links to various Captivate movies. Is there a way to add a link to the MenuBuilder table of contents at the end of each Captivate movie so that the learner can easily return to the table of contents?

I found a post by Silke Fleisher suggesting to use the Skin Menu instead of MenuBuilder at http://blogs.adobe.com/silke.fleischer/2007/07/

I tried her suggestion of using the skin menu to link multiple Captivate projects together. I'm able to use the skin menu, no problem, but have run into a bunch of error messages when trying to TEST those links. (Works fine if linking within the same Captivate project.) I read the Captivate Help menu, but there's not enough detail for me to resolve these error messages. I do have all the Captivate projects in a single folder.
Does anyone know of detailed step-by-step information on how to link various Captivate projects and TEST those links by either Preview Project or Preview in Web Browser?

Hi Jay

If you want to link the end of the Captivate movie to the MenuBuilder, you edit the Preferences. Look at the Project node and the Start and End node. Once there you should see an option for controlling how the movie ends. Click the drop down and choose "Open URL or File". The safest approach is to avoid any browsing to find the file and simply type the file name of the MenuBuilder file.

Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick,

Thanks for helping out. I do so much appreciate your time and suggestions.

I have a few other questions that I'm hoping you're able to answer.

* Is it possible to give the learner a choice of replaying the lesson or returning to the MenuBuilder TOC?

* If it's not possible to give the learner a choice of replaying or returning to the MenuBuilder TOC, is there a way to give the learner an indication that after the last slide of a lesson that they will be automatically returned to the MenuBuilder TOC? I suppose a text box would work, but it would be good if they had a button to click so that they could feel more in control.

* Without posting the files to a web site, how can I test that after the last slide of a lesson the learner will be returned to the MenuBuilder TOC?

Hi everyone!

This is exactly the question I was about to post. The last reply to this thread was last June; is there an answer to this question? I need to have a TOC in Menubuilder which will allow the end user to either continue on to the next chapter or return to the main menu to manually select the chapter he/she wants to view. I thought about adding a click box but before I did that, I wanted to check with the Experts.

Thanks!

Krista

Hi Krista,

Many of my projects use Menu Builder as a TOC.  At the end of each of the sections I have 3 buttons (I use transparent buttons superimposed on an image)

1.  Return to main menu - links back to Menu Builder

2.  Replay - links back to slide 1 of current section

3.  Continue - links to next section

Hope that helps,

Peter
