Mouse cursor not showing in published Captivate 2019 html file or in preview mode

In Captivate 2019 I have recorded a software simulation and change the mouse cursor to double size and a custom blue click. I have published the file to html and loaded it on our LMS. The mouse does not show in the course. It also does not show in Preview mode. I have preferences set to Show Mouse Location and Movement.

I use a Windows machine and have built many courses and not had this issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Was this option selected when you performed the screencaptures?  If not, you may need to recapture again, or else add mouse movements to each slide manually.

I added the mouse movements manually but they have disappeared in the published file. Even when I remove the mouse abd then add it again its not showing in either preview or the publisged file.

Couple of things to check:

  • Are the mouse layers at the very top of the layer order?
  • Are they set to be shown?  (The 'eye' column must not have an X.)

One other thing I just remembered about some versions of Captivate 2019.

Sometimes even though it LOOKED like the mouse layer was at the very top of the layer order it wasn't.  So sometimes I had to manually select the layer and use the right-click action to Arrange > Bring to Front before it would then publish as expected.  Maybe you could try that as well.

It could also be that some of your customisations to the mouse object have caused it to be corrupted.  Try a test with a new blank project file with just a couple of blank slides.  Add a default mouse movement added to one slide (no customisations) and your custom mouse movement to the other slide.  Publish to see whether the mouse movements appear on both slides.

Thanks so much Rod for all the info. I created a new project and both mouse objects (custom) and not custom mouse show as expected. I have also tried 'bring mouse object to front' and they are not hidden but no luck. The project I am working on did get corrupted and I had to use the .bak file. My issue is its a big project and I cant afford to redo the whole thing. Any other suggestions to recover the mouse throughout the project? Thanks

Thanks Rod  - I found the issue. Under Publish settings "include mouse' was not checked. Apologies for the inconvenience! Thanks again
