IIn Captivate 5, I have text to speech waveform showing in the timeline but no sound when previewing.
Soud does play in audio edit mode or when published. Makes it difficult to adjust timing.
What am I missing?

Hi Jack
My own guess is that you clicked the speaker icon in the Timeline to mute audio. If that's the case, click the icon to toggle the state.

Aw geez.. too easy. BUT...
If the speaker button has focus and you press spacebar to audition, soud is turned off. I'm sure that's what I did.
I call that a bug. Enter key should toggle.
THANKS, MAN! I'll keep the softballs coming... ![]()

Hello again
Well, if you want to call it a bug you should consider reporting to Adobe as the same. ![]()
When you think about it, doesn't the Spacebar also perform the same action as clicking buttons in Windows dialogs?

Hmmm... I did not realize the spacebar had same function as Enter key in Windows. I alway thought Enter was the equivalent of a mouse click for controls having focus. Learn something new every day.
In the case of Captivate, the same keyboard option - spacebar - is used both to playback timeline AND toggle audio.
From my perspective, that is a usability flaw.

I agree 100% that this is a design flaw. Windows does use spacebar for click-action on buttons, but that fact is well known and quite common.
I was going nuts when I found audio not playing while I dragged the head on timeline. Had to deliver a project, with this probem comming-up from nowhere... Surprisingly, there was no sign of such problem on m colleagues laptop, though we use the same lapus of same brand and configuration.
Re-installed Captivate 5 on my machne and the problem got resolved. Felt happy... After a week or so, again the same problem...
Didn't know this tiny speaker icon was making it mute.
More so, unlike CP3, the head in CP5 drags on timeline quite smoothly, so a user doesn't feel whether the audio is actually getting muted or is it a problem with the software or with the file.
Adobe has made CP5 from grounds-up... No doubt its a far better software, but I believe it'll take time before this app gets more mature and user-friendly.
Cheers!
