Png Button States?

Community Beginner ,

Is there a way to create a png button for transparency and use a FCM file to maintain the border widths?  I want a transparent button where ONLY the borders become visible for only the over and down state of the button.  Is this possible?  Basically the button would act like a highlight box that works like a rollover image.  I can't use rollover images because I need the "click" reported to an LMS.  I can create png button states but the border thickness shrinks or grows if the button is resized.

Hi,

We're currently using v5 but will probably upgrade to v6 within a few months.  I do believe what you have there would work - without the word button in the center of course.  What I did was create the buttons in fireworks.  The _up button is completely transparent, the _over and _down buttons have a transparent background but about a 5 px border.  This way the button only becomes visible if hovered over or clicked on.  We develop for software training and while we currently capture images for button states (for example an "OK" button in a Microsoft word dialog box) this is too time consuming.  We would like to just create one generic button that provides visual feedback that we can use over and over again.  My current problem is that the border shrinks if I size this generic button down or it gets bigger if I size the button up to fit over the area I want clicked.  We could do away with the border altogether and just use a semi-transparent back ground but depending on where we place the button sometimes it doesn't display very well (ex placing it over a dark area).

I guess in Cp 5, it is very easy to acheive. You can use a transparent button and by using Fill and Stroke properties change the color setting.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Thanks but that won't work.  I need the _up state to be completely invisible.  Changing a transparent button's transparency or border changes all three states.
