PowerPoint into Captivate - color issues

Currently, I'm working with Captivate 3 and PowerPoint 2007. I figured out that we can't import pptx files but have to convert back to ppt or pps - no problem there. However, I'm still having serious issues with color conversion. When I import a ppt (or pps, I've tried both) file into Captivate, a certain theme color in my show turns into this seafoam green/light blue color. Now, the color I was initially using was a standard dark blue, but I've since changed it to various other standard colors to try and work around the issue, with no luck. They all turn seafoam. I've also tried adjusting the color settings within captivate (under preferences) to no avail. Is anyone else having this issue or aware of a fix?

This was the key for me. I only had a single template and a single color scheme, yet I still got the black text and sea foam green bullet points. But when I went in and changed my font and bullet point colors to websafe colors I got excellent results with the import!

Thanks for the tip!

Web safe color helps... And also, I found this solution as well,

Open your elements (line, text, fill) that cause the color corruption, and change the color to another color and then select the item that you just change to another color and re-apply your desired color one more time. Try to import that slide to Captivate and see if it works. Basically, I re-defined the color information for the specific elements that has the color issues. I know it sounds strange, but it works for me. However, I couldn't fix (hypertext) color to have the right color with this process.

It is very much time consuming to do, but it works for me.

Solved this problem by merging images with background in Adobe Captivate.

In Adobe Captivate is a feature "Merge with Background" which you find in  "Edit View",  Right Click, Image on theTimeline.

This worked for me.

I came here because I am having the exact same problem with Captivate 7 & PowerPoint 2007!! In addition to the seafoam color (from the dark blue), I have some grey 3D boxes in PowerPoint. When I convert to Captivate, I get a flat box with a black shadow. All of my images or black text items are just fine.

Since the elements that are changing color are "portable", I have used Snagit to convert them to .png - that works better than the cutting tool because I can ensure that my image is exact. I make sure I name them for each slide number. Then, before I import the PowerPoint, I remove those elements from my PowerPoint before I import. I can then insert them as images and my Captivate presentation looks perfect.

Luckily, I wasn't rushed with this because the clients were still making up their minds about other parts of the presentation - but it would be nice not to have to work so hard. I couldn't just scrap the PowerPoint and start from scratch because it was going to have to look like that presentation anyhow, so I would still have had to copy the elements as images.

I forgot to add. The strangest thing was that my PowerPoint presentation ALSO changed color after I created the new Captivate from PPT!! I had a copy, so make sure that you have copies before you try doing this.
