I have a Captivate 2019 project with a quiz.  It works when doing a preview, but when I went to have it reviewed by other users some of the multiple choice questions didn't display the answer options, just A.,B.,C.,D.

It could be that the text is there but the view percentage of the end user's PC or browser is not allowing the text to be seen in the text objects.

You can try the following:

  • Ask those users experiencing this issue to check what their browser Zoom % is set to.  If greater than 100%, ask them to reduce to 100% and try viewing the same questions again.
  • Try moving the question answers apart (vertically) and expanding the text boxes to allow more room for the answer text.  Sometimes if the text boxes are just a tad too small the text will wrap to the next line and then it cannot be seen. Making the boxes larger tends to avoid this problem.

As Rod points out the individual answer captions can be too small. Too bad: there is no way to fix this in the quizzing master slides, which have only the answer area to be resized (which I would do, increase its height).

Make sure to use the most recent version of Captivate as well.

To check if this is the cause, can you post a screenshot of the quiz slide in the editing environment in Captivate?

Have you checked the timeline to see if there are any objects that are pausing the slide? Do you any "on enter" advanced actions that could be pausing it as well?

@colorito_elearning  If a pause would be involved, why would 'some' objects appear, and just not the answer text? There is no selective pausing possible AFAIK. A quiz slide has a pausing point, by default at 1.5 seconds. Moreover even a Pause command On enter for a quiz slide has no effect on that slide, it will ignore the Pause.

I seem to recall a bug with one of the update releases of Adobe Captivate 2019 that resulted in blank text like what you are experiencing. Make sure you update your version of Adobe Captivate to the latest version and try publishing again. To get the most up-to-date version, click on Help and Check for Updates to ensure you are running the most up-to-date version for your platform. The latest version for Windows is 11.5.5.553, and for macOS, it is 11.5.5.676.
