"Edit in Soundbooth" is grayed out. Am I out of luck?

Is there any way at all for me to use Soundbooth to edit audio in Captivate 5?  I purchased the CS4 suite with Soundbooth separately from Captivate 5 and the button in the audio edit window in Captivate to edit with Soundbooth is grayed out.  Am I out of luck?

Hi there

When you right-click the audio clip in the library, isn' the generic "Edit with" an option as shown below?

You then browse to whatever editing application you like and edit.

Thanks Rick.  That works.  I was referring to the Slide Audio window, where
the button is grayed out.  It's slightly more direct (and convenient) to be
able to edit the audio from the slide window rather than having to hunt for
it in the library.  Still, the roundtripping of your solution seems to work.

Thanks again,
Glenn

Hello,

Roundtripping with Soundbooth, directly from the Audio Edit menu, will be only functional if you have the eLearning Suite, same for editing Project audio and have the slide markers preserved in SB. I couldn't understand from your question if that is the case. Sorry, if I did not understand well.

Hi Lilybiri,

Yes, you understood correctly.  I did see that eLearning restriction in the documentation and couldn't believe it was true: that the specific commercial path you took to acquire Soundbooth and Captivate would determine functionality.  Worse, if you didn't take the golden path (but only the silver path) you were left with a grayed-out button and no hope of ever making it usable and no easy explanation as to why it's there in the first place.  If my button can't ever be usable, why is it even there?

Anyway, at least Rick's solution is as close to an answer as I'm going to get.

Hello,

I'm sorry, can only tell you that the eLearning Suite has more functionalities than each app separately, roundtripping with SB is one of them, and do sympathize with you.

Hi follks

I would heartily encourage any of you that feel this is a bad move on Adobe's behalf to tell Adobe about it. You do this by completing a Wish Form (link is in my sig)

Only by hearing from hordes of unhappy users is Adobe likely to take notice.

Cheers... Rick
