I am running Captivate 2017 on a Macbook Pro. I am attempting to screen record a video. I go to File / Record a New / Video Demo. That part works fine. When I am done with recording, I am supposed to press Command-Enter to stop the video. But all I get is a beep and Captivate freezes up. I have to force quit Captivate.
Is this a known bug? And, can anyone troubleshoot this?
Thanks

I'm having a similar issue. I get a "Finalizing video capture" window that seems frozen and it never goes away. I have to force quit Captivate every time. Did you find any solutions?

I think from what you are saying you are also on a Mac - The default key command in Captivate to stop recording is Command + Enter. Unfortunately Command + Enter is a general key board command in the Mac that can be used for various command functions. I suggest to my students on Mac that they go into the Captivate Preferences and under the Recording > Key (Global) Setting that they change the default (Command + Enter) to a different key set ie. say Option + E that they would not use in the recording process, which would then end the recording. To change the default click in the field beside "To Stop Recording" and press Option + E and that will change your key command. Hopefully this will stop the need to use Force Quit to end the recording process.

Even though this doesn't seem to address the exact problem, I think it actually might work as a solution.
Yes, the default key command doesn't work on a mac, but clicking the Captivate app icon in the dashboard "seems" to provide the same functionality, i.e. stopping the recording, except that a dialogue box always appears with the message "Finalizing video capture". The dialogue box never goes away, the video never appears.
So perhaps clicking the app icon doesn't work, and the quick key change is necessary.
On MacBook Pro and macOS High Sierra.
