Remove or highlight text on incorrect entry

I have a Text Entry box which allows 3 attempts before the next slide appears. If the learner types an incorrect entry, an error message appears. After that happens, I want the incorrect text to be automatically highlighted so that the learner can easily replace the text with the correct answer -- otherwise, the learner has to highlight the text manually before replacing it. Does Captivate have the ability to automatically highlight incorrect text?

Hi Jay

Well, I'm able to sort of come close.

If you don't use the "retain text" feature, you can configure the Text Entry Box object so that it has a single attempt. After a failure occurs, instruct it to return to the previous slide. The slide should display again with the text entered cleared.

Not sure if that's what you are looking for of if it will help. No way I'm aware of to actually highlight anything though.

Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick,
I truly appreciate your suggestion.
It works, except that I don't see a way to automatically move the learner to the next slide. In other words, it's like giving the learner infinite attempts.
Nevertheless, it is probably the best possible workaround.

Hi Jay

The learner would reach the next slide by virtue of typing the correct response. In that case, you would program the success action to move forward.

But you are correct. It is providing an infinite number of attempts.

Cheers... Rick
