Hello, I'm new to Captivate and am running into a huge issue.
Since I'm working on a VM and I cannot change the resolution of my screen, reading some of the sections in the demos are small -- not a lot, but a few. I'd like a way to magnify certain sections of the screen and have them stay magnified through multiple slides. I tried using zoom, but with every slide transition, the section zoomed in and I'd like the section perma-zoomed/magnified until I say otherwise. Can this be done?
Along a similar vein, I want to show a fullscreen in some sections of my presentation and partial screen in others. However, the smaller "partial" sections I'm recording are saving with huge empty slide space all around them. Is there a way I can resize it to fill my entire slide?
I'm frustrated because I can't resize captured images like I can in photoshop so ANY image recorded can fit any slide.
Thanks!

You are talking about a software simulation? Do you want to create a Training/assessment or a Demo simulation?
Why is this important? If you want a demo simulation I would propose to replace the software simulation by a Video Demo. The Video Demo editor has zoom and pan features, non-destructive (since you like PS) which would make it easy to achieve what you want.
If you want to stay with software simulations, you can activate zooming and panning during the capture, but I don't like the quality personally to be honest. I understand you cannot create several capture projects with same overall resolution, but where part of them are zoomed in on the application?
Another possibility, but I fear for the quality since the background are bitmap images is to find the background in the Library and edit it with a graphic application like PS, keeping the overall size and ppi, but zooming in.

Thank you for responding.
This is a software simulation. You are right, I don't have this problem with video demos.
So I'm capturing the full screen of the software, but it has a LOT of empty space, absolutely irrelevant in certain section of the simulation. The problem is that I'm working on a virtual machine and cannot change the screen resolution so there's no way to make the font size bigger. What I was hoping was that the software simulator had that same zoom feature that the video demo has -- which it does, but it resets and replays the animation as soon as the slide changes. Here's what I mean:
Slide one: The navigational tree to demonstrate the individual buttons.
Slide two: Zoom into the menu bar and explain the first icon.
Slide three: The zoom replays the animation and I explain the second icon
Slide four: The zoom replays the animation and I explain the third button.
The only thing I'd like is to just perma-zoom the menu bar until I'm finished explaining all of the icons. Just as you said, the video demo does this, but I can't find a resource for the software simulation. I don't want to do a video because its very hard to add computer narration to long segments of video. And honestly, I should HAVE to do a video for this one small thing.

I asked which mode you were using?

I answered. Software simulation demo. Unless you are referring to something else. Again, I'm new to Captivate.

Sorry, that was not in your previous answer. In that case I would have opted for a Video Demo, there is no advantage to use a software simutitation over a Video Demo. Ony for training and assessment simulations I keep to the slide ased simultations.
It would have solved the zoomng problem. You can capture a video demo also in shorter chukcs, addind video clip after the already finished one.

So the answer to my question is "no, you cannot zoom in the manner you are proposing." Thanks
