Sending emails from Captivate 5

New Here ,
Dec 09, 2010 Dec 09, 2010

Hi

I am hoping someone can help me.  I want to sent emails from Captivate 5.  The user will need to complete the module and then click on a button which says 'completed', I then would like an email to be automatically generated and sent to a contact.  I don't want the user to have to click on Send once the email has been generated I want it to be automatically sent as soon as the user clicks on the button in Captivate.  Is this possible??

Thanks in advance

Jodie

It is possible using this widget:  http://www.cpguru.com/2010/09/01/email-reporting-widget-as3-for-adobe-captivate-4-and-adobe-captivat...

You'll also need:

  • your Captivate movie served up from a web server
  • the web server supports a scripting language such as PHP
  • you may also need access to someone with programming skills if you need to modify the PHP page

Is there any way this can be done without involving a server?

Thanks

Not as far as I am aware.  The email that is being sent has to access an email gateway. Webservers have these.  If content is not served from a webserver with a scripted interface to the email gateway, it will have to fall back on the old mailto: link method that just opens an email in whatever default email client the user happens to have on their system.  But you said you didn't want that.

Hi There,

If you believe that this facility should be present just out of the box in Captivate then please send us an enhancement request.
