Hello, I have created a project which includes interactive slides and software simulations. There are 2 simulations and 2 slides between them. When I review the whole project, AC skips the two slides and goes from one software simulation to the next one. If I start the project from the last slide of the 1st simulation AC does not skip them. What is the reason for this behaviour? There is no branching, just linear.
Thanks!,
Nassia

I am a bit puzzled. You mention 'software simulation', except for the Demo mode (which I never used since Video Demo was released) such a simulation is interactive as well. How do you navigate from the last software simulation slide to the first 'other' slide?
You mention 'review', I suppose you mean Preview? I suspect you are using a non-responsive project. In that case the only Preview method which shows HTML content is F11, Preview HTML in Browser. Did you check with that content?
Can you have a look at the interactions in the Advanced Interaction panel (F9)? Especially the last slide of the first sim part, and the following slides are important. Which actions do you see On Exit for the last software simulation slide and On Enter for the first 'other' slide. They are in the Failure and the Success column on slide level.

Thanks for your response!
Yes, I do mean "Preview". So, I have a project which includes interactive slides, software simulation and slides with audio + text.
Example:
Slide 1: Text
Slide 2-5 Software Simulation with click buttons for the learner to interact
Slide 5-7 text
Slide 8-10 Software Simulation with click buttons for the learner to interact
In preview, slides 5-7 are skipped though I have added a button for the learner to click and go to slide 5 (next slide is also selected).
Does this help?

This is the Software Simulation option

Software simulation can be in several modes... still not sure what you used. And did you use the correct Preview method which is F11, Preview in Browser?
Please, I asked to check the Advanced Interaction panel to see the exact actions which are used on each slide. The scenario which you used is very common, there is no reason whatsoever why the slides would be skipped if the navigation has been set up correctly.

I hope this helps? Slides 13 and 14 are skipped

What are those 'Return to.... ' actions on multiple slides. Those are NOT normal for software simulation slides, neither in Training nor in Assessment mode. I cannot read the exact action because the column is too small.

On success return to slide. Cause I want them to click on more than one places on the screen. This is the only way I found to allow me to add 4 spots on the screen for the learn to click on and then move to the next slide. Thanks for trying to assist. Let's see if someone else has come across this 🙂

Hmm... there is no simple 'Return' command, the only command which has the word 'Return' in it is 'Return to Quiz'. That is a very special command which is used for remediation, but that is not what you really need. Heree are some explanations about remediation:

You have tweaked the software simulation slides, since the default recorded sim slides always have only one click box, never multiple ones. You didn't mention that in your original question, I suspect that this may be the origin of your weird problem. If you want the learner to remain on a slide to perform multiple scored clicks, you need to prevent the release of the playhead. However the checkbox 'Continue Playing the project' is not available for click boxes, only for buttons. It means that you need to us 'No action' for the success event of the click box. You will need to add an extra Next button to appear when all the click boxes have been clicked on that slide. That will need an advanced or shared action.
Another approach would be to Replay the slide, which is what you really want. That is not available in the dropdown list with simple actions. You need an advanced or shared action as explained in this blog, or this Captivate tutorial.

You may hope that someone else had similar problems, but please give detailed information. In this case if I knew from the start that you used 'Return to Quiz' (not Return to slide, which is inexistent) I would have pointed immediately to the eternal remediation loop.

Hey, thanks! I will check them out and see how I can fix this.
I am sorry I did not add all the information, I didn't know that they were important. No need to be rude, thanks for the help anyways!

Also, I am wondering why the command "On Success Return to Quiz" would be the reason of skipping two slides to the next software simulation 😕 perhaps because AC recognises the next quiz slide? Weird.

Because you are creating an eternal loop.... I see that you don't want to read any blog. That command is meant to be put on a Next button on a content slide, which in that case gets a double functionality depending on the previous visited slide. That is in one sentence what happens.
Just tried to help you, and I am pretty sure that the use of that wrong command is creating the problems. Of course you don't have to believe me. Success, but please avoid using commands you don't know what they are meant for.

Hey, I thanked you again and again and I visited your blog! I actually bookmarked it! I am only wondering about things so that I don't make the same mistake again in the next projects. Also, I am just learning, so I use any command that fits me and search the internet for solutions, that's how people learn! 🙂
Once more thanks for your help and time. It would be nice if you were not that aggressive though. We are here to help each other learn the tool and solve problems, not telling each other off. I am sure you agree.
