Software simulations - Captivate 8

Hi,

This may be a stupid question, but hopefully I'll get some answers.

I've recorded three modes (demo, training and assessment) at the same time and no problems with that.

What I would like is the learner to go through step 1 (demo), and directly after come to step 2 (training) and last but not least, step 3 (assessment).

My problem is that I really don't know how to "merge" the modes together (looks like each and every mode has turned into an own project if you know what I mean.)

Do I have to save each and every project mode in a certain format or how do I do this?

Grateful for help!

/Sandra

You have the 3 files open in 3 tabs.

Select all slides in the Fillmstrip of the training sim with CTRL-A and

copy them (CTRL-C). Go to the Demo tab, select the last slide in the

Fimstrip, paste the copied slides. Same work flow for the Assessment slidrs.

Hi and thank you so much for answering!

I actually just did what you wrote, so it seems to work.

Although, is this the way it works in CP or is it just an easier way?

I've been working a lot in Storyline (which I know is not the same), where you could save the video modes and then adding them choosing what kind of mode you wanted. But, I assume it doesn't work that way in CP?

Each tool has its work flows, Captivate has a much longer history. In

earlier versions you had to import slides to merge - similar to importing

PPT-slides. Since the appearance of the MDI (multiple display interface),

which are those tabs, copy/paste is the way to go. I often add a menu slide

for that type of "Show, Try, Test" case to give the user more control, not

everyone wants to sit watching a passive demo, at least lot of my students

jumped immediately to the training or even assessment.

In this approach, you will need to build navigation between the modes by creating buttons with an action to 'Jump to Slide #'.

Having each mode in a separate file allows simple navigation to the beginning of the mode, but jumping to specific content for remediation is more difficult.

Copying the modes to a single Cp file means more work for the developer, but you can build the course so the user can have remediation during the assessment by jumping to specific content based on their responses.

The Best Practice is to group a series of questions into a topic designed to evaluate a specific training objective.

I've devised an approach where the user can self correct once by retaking the quiz questions, a second failure of the topic leads to a summary remediation slide, and a third failure requires repeat of the topic content. A fourth failure may result in exiting the course, the failing the course to be recorded, and their managers permission may be required for re-enrollment.

This approach requires pools of questions where questions within the topic are randomized, and responses are randomized for each question.

Depending on your content, this may be an overly strict approach, but it is designed to prevent 'gaming' of the quizzes and sharing the answers.

In this approach, each topic would have each mode included in a single Cp file. Depending on the content depth and structure, I'd likley create the summary remediation slide within the assessment, and skip it for correct answers; but the repeat of the topic content can be approached by hiding and showing buttons with the 'Jump To' and 'Return' actions.

Wow, thanks for this tip!

We'll see what I will be able to perform, but I will definitely keep this. Thanks!
