Text Entry Box Failure Caption Delay

Explorer ,
May 22, 2012 May 22, 2012

We have a Captivate 5 file with Text Entry boxes. If you type in an incorrect answer, the Failure caption doesn't immediately appear. It may take anywhere from 3-10 seconds for the Failure Caption to appear. The success caption appears immediately.  It isn't happening on all Text Entry Boxes. But on many of them. Changing the "pause" timing of the Entry Box doesn't fix it. Changing time of the box doesn't fix it.  We ended up having to recreate all the boxes. But any tips greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Is this happening with all the projects.

Please try on another project or on a blank project and see if it is doing the same thing.

No, only on this one project. We have completed other projects on this computer. And not on every text entry, just on some. Seems like one faulty text entry was copied and pasted through the project. But if we create a new text entry (in this same project), then the new text entry works fine.  But what makes the text entry faulty? I saw other threads mentioning a similar issue with click boxes, but the threads never offered a solution.

Also, it delays on the computer used to create the Captivate and also on other computers (that don't have captivate installed). Making me think it is something about the file, not the computer speed.

Another thing: seems to be an issue more when you submit the wrong answer quickly (before the "pause" of the entry box).

There could be a chance that the text entry box might be corrupt. Why? No Idea about that.

As the issue is reproducible on more than one machine, it clearly means that there is something with this project and not with the captivate installed on your machine.

Also, if you submit the wrong answer before the pause of the entry bos, it still shows the failure caption without delay.

Can you try to copy the slide containing the faulty text entry box, in any other project and then check if it does the same thing.
