Timeline - Play/Pause controls missing

I am using Captivate 5 and my slides include audio.  "Normally" there are preview controls located on the timeline to the left of the audio track.  I have rebooted and attempted to launch several captivate modules and none of them have the preview (play bar) controls located in the Timeline any longer. Any suggestions?

Hi there

Try clicking the workspace chooser and ensuring Classic is set. Then click it again and choose "Reset Classic".

Does that do it?

Cheers... Rick

Welcome to our community

Try closing and restarting Captivate. Sometimes it goes all wonky like that and restarting fixes it.

Thanks for the prompt response Rick, but I have already rebooted my entire system several times and it is still missing.

Hello,

Did you already try to reset a workspace or change workspace? And did you try to make the Timeline into a floating panel by dragging it out of the bottom dock? For complex slides I often make it floating because you can extend it a lot if you have a high resolution screen.

FYI: play/pause on the timeline can also be activated with the Space key (toggle). Home gets you back to the first frame. But I do not have a proposition to zoom in/out on the timeline.

Hello again

Apologies for failing to notice that you did say that in your first post. My bad. Guess I need more coffee!

If what Lilybiri jumped in and proposed doesn't work...

I suppose the next step would be to clobber the preferences folder. Exactly where it will be depends on your operating system. For me in Windows 7, it's here:

C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Adobe\Captivate 5 (or Captivate 5.5)

And in my virtual XP environment, it's here:

C:\Documents and Settings\XPMUser\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Captivate 5 (or Captivate 5.5)

So close Captivate, delete the folder (or rename it if you are hinky about deleting things) then restart Captivate and see if your controls come back.

Cheers... Rick

Ok, so now I have undocked the timeline and I see the play controls, but now I can't get the timeline to redock - not even after I log off and back on.

I have searched and cannot find any post on how to re-dock the timeline.  I am beyond frustrated at this point....Uggghhhh!  Any thoughts?

Hello,

Redocking: drag the timeline towards the bottom dock until you see blue lines appearing all around it, then let go, it will be docked.

Perhaps you do not have anything in the bottom dock? OK, in that case choose another workspace.
