unknown exception: ..\..\..\source\components\ziputils\CPInternalZipUtils.cpp716

New Here ,
Jul 26, 2019 Jul 26, 2019

I have recently updated to Captivate 2019 (most current update) and am experiencing difficulties in saving/conversion of older (.cptx) files. The file opens correctly, but upon saving as a different file name, locks. (on Windows 10 PRO, 64 bit).

This error is received when the application locks up, and clicking on it only brings the same error up over and over again:

Unknown Exception: ..\..\..\source\components\ziputils\CPInternalZipUtils.cpp716

In addition werfault.exe is seen as being problematic by my anti-virus. An alert tho this effect pops up after forced closing out of my locked Captivate 2019 application. werfault my only be error reporting after the hung app is closed, but may be connected.

Has anyone experienced something similar, and if so, have you been successful at a remedy?

I've created a new thread here for the latest updates on this issue: https://community.adobe.com/t5/captivate/having-trouble-saving-adobe-captivate-files-on-microsoft-windows/m-p/11892489#M289474

Short answer: Engineers are recommending that you temporarily work offline (disconnect from the Internet) to avoid the file open, save, new and other errors that have appeared.  Please see the above thread for updates.

We're having the same issue on all several of our devices. Captivate version 11.5.5.553. Running Windows 10 and Office 365. Most recent Windows updates were installed over a week ago on February 28th, (KB5001028, KB4601056, and KB4601395).
We can only open CPTX files some of the time, and I haven't been able to save. I even created a new project, recorded fine, but when I went to save it, got the same errors.

I'm a Windows user. I ran an Adobe Captivate update today (3.10) and issue resolved.

Same issue here.  Working offline works.  Microsoft pushed out several updates yesterday and Captivate subsequently worked fine through the evening (on several different PCs).  It was only this morning when I saw the recent posts that I checked and discovered the same result.

11.5.5.553

While opening a file, the first error was a boilerplate popup saying either there was something wrong with the file that I was opening, or something wrong with the network.

I rebooted, and now when I open a Captivate file, it says "Exception error".

I tried to create a new project, and when I do, it just sits there. No errors. No prompts. I tried several times.

Wow - what a disaster for Adobe. I'm sure they are aware of this by now.

11.5.5.553 as well.

I tried all of Paul's advice. Uninstalled, and reinstalled, and I'm getting the same error (and so are three of my coworers). We are on Windows 10 and running Office 365.

Thanks,

Jamie

Same thing with us. We are dead in the water until Adobe sends out a fix and we have deadlines looming.

Same! Everything worked last night. Uninstalled and reinstalled Captivate twice. Rebooted numerous times. Same error when I try to save:

Working offline is the only work-around that worked for me.

My entire team just started getting this error today. I thought it might have been an update that our company made overnight originally but it looks like it's a Captivate thing. We also have that version. Hopefully, this is escalated ASAP.

In the moment it's only possible to work if the internet is disconected.

Hi, same issue here. Just downloaded the latest version of Captivate hoping that would fix it and it didn't work.

Problem appears to be related to release 11.5.5.553.

People having previous releases are not having a problem.

Uggg - I feel sorry for the person at Adobe who issued the release.

I am on 11.5.0.476 and can't open a file to even see if this is happening.  I can open projects built in the 2017 version in the 2017 edition though.  I'm not so sure it's limited to the release.

Does Adobe follow this or should we be calling them to report the issue?

I don't think that they follow this. Will reach out to support and point them here, as my time is limited today.
