I am considering getting a Macbook Pro and will be using Captivate 2019. Can I check if there are other users of Captivate using Macbook Pro out there and what the performace of their device has been like with using Captivate?
Adobe Captivate has not been available for the M1 processor until very recently. Adobe has also been slow to offer support for this new processor and new OS updates/upgrades over the last couple of years. If you sift through these forums, you will see that Apple users have been very frustrated with the speed at which updates have come and the rate at which troubleshooting bugs have been dealt with.
Thanks Paul, thats quite disappointing. I would have thought Apple devices would work well with Adobe products 😞
I think it's human nature to want the latest and greatest. For example, tech enthusiasts like myself will download the latest updates and quickly implement them without ensuring that there isn't a negative impact to their production device.
This happens in the Windows world as well. Back in October many users downloaded and installed Windows 11 and discovered negative impacts on other software, not just Adobe. I found out that certain applications that use multimedia on my system are negatively impacted by Windows 11. Because of this I have rolled back to Windows 10 and will hold off on 11 until I learn that everything has been resolved.
Both Monterey system version and the M1 chip which are both typical for the Macbook Pro are only supported with the 11.8 version. The release for individual licenses has just been made public:
That post also has a link to the release notes.
It's important to mention that this is for subscription only. If the user already has a perpetual license for Captivate 2019 they will not be able to use this release. Hopefully they are on monthly.
