I am using a name variable and for some reason the font the variable appears in, is Times Roman. This is different from the text font of my page. Can this variable's font be changed so that it is the same as the rest of the text on the page. The font used on the page is Aerial.
Many thanks for your hep.

Are you publishing as SWF or HTML5?

I ran into the same problem. I was using Arial Rounded MT Bold which is written into HTML5 with inline CSS.
It would show for a split second as Arial before it switched to Times New Roman as it was updated by a variable change.
I had to edit the HTML and apply a class to it and then apply the style with CSS instead of inline.
Doesn't happen all the time, but I couldn't get around it in that instance.

Hello and welcome,
Old pain! Which version are you using? Yes, text containers that have variables inserted are different, in Flash they are called dynamic (if I remember well). And since Captivate is not supporting embedded fonts, not all fonts will rendered on runtime (when that container is created if you use variables), and it is very annoying that CP is then using Times all the time. The fonts that are supported natively are in this MS article:

I am using Captivate 6. The other font on the page is Aerial - which is on the list. I just want that variable to have the same font as the rest of the page.

Lieve, do you know why they wouldn't embed fonts since Flash has been doing it for quite some time? Are they afraid of the increase in file size?

Have no idea, really. Maybe? I have pointed to this problem since... version 5.

They should use Web Fonts then in both the SWF and HTML5 output, at least you would know what your getting.
