Very slow/laggy presentation

Hi

We have some problems with our presentation.

At our computer, the project (as well as the published .swf) runs smoothly, but at out client's machines it is very (VERY) laggy.

I takes them 20 minutes to answer 3 standard quiz slides, it looks like everything runs in slow motion - even checking the checkboxes or inputing text to text box objects. We had to remove all transitions, set display times of all slides to < 1 sec (like 0.3-0.7 sec) to even get things viewable, but all interaction is simply not possible.

What may be the problem? At times (we try to change some settings, remove slides, remove backgrounds, transition etc.) the presentation runs smoothly, but then - another published swf, made from exactly the same source file - gets all laggy.

It looks like a standard issue of 'It works for us, so the problem is on your side' - but we can't afford to give them that sort of answer. Is there a way to check - what exactly may be causing the problem on their side? Or maybe there is a way to make the presentation 'lighter'? It's almost static, PowerPoint style presentation (background .png/.jpg, captions, navigation buttons, click boxes and input text boxes). There are several modules (independent swf files, no aggregation used), average below 100 slides, ~5MB - each one gets laggy.

Is your client delivering this presentation from an LMS or just a web server?

Sorry, forgot to provide more info.

I use Captivate 5, they are running it from LMS, using SCORM 1.2 (its some custom made system for their internal use).

1 module is a 'sco', others are 'assets', all lag the same.

Next question is, at this client site, if they just copy some of the published modules over to someone's PC My Documents area and run them from there, do they lag, or do they run fine?  You need to do this test to establish whether or not it's something in the client site's Standard Operating Environment for PCs (their operating system and IT setup) or their LMS.

My money is on the LMS causing this issue, I've seen it happen many times.

So how do the modules run at the client site  OUTSIDE the LMS?

We managed to run the modules outside of the LMS and they worked.

So, is there anything we can do to fix the situation?

What are your SCORM settings inside your Captivate movies?

If you are reporting Quiz Results and Slide Views, set it to Quiz Results Only.

If you are reporting Interactions and Score try setting to only report Score instead.

These changes will lessen the load on your server because it won't be getting pinged as often. Try uploading new lessons with these settings and running the same tests on the LMS.
