Hello, I am recording video demos in Captivate 2019 and every video I record, after about 30 seconds into the video, it lags and my video and voice are off significantly. Any idea what is causing this? Recording issue? Audio issue? Bandwidth?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Zach

This problem is often the result of your audio recording software not recording at the same rate as your video recording software. For example if your audio is recording with a sampling rate that doesn't line up with the rate at which your webcam is being recorded, over time the two will be out of sync. You can try changing the sampling rate of your microphone by using the following steps.

  • In Windows press the Start key on your keyboard
  • Type Control Panel and press enter
  • Switch View by to Category
  • Click Hardware and Sound
  • Click Manage audio devices
  • Click the Recording tab
  • Select the Microphone you are using and click on Properties
  •  Click the Advanced tab
  • Under Default Format you may see the a drop down selector with choices like in the screenshot. Try selecting a lower sampling rate like 44100 Hz instead of 48000 Hz.
  • Click OK and return to your recording and see if that makes a difference.
