Vimeo video to autoplay after button click

Explorer ,
May 18, 2017 May 18, 2017

I am trying to do the following:

User enters a slide. User clicks a button and a hidden Vimeo video appears and begins playing automatically. The video is in a Web Object.

Issue:

The Vimeo video begins playing automatically upon slide enter and I can't pause the video using Captivate actions.

Is there a way to achieve this using only Captivate, or is this a Javascript solution? Ot is this possible at all?

Thanks.

I understand that I can simply have the video autoplay upon slide enter and bypass clicking a button, but still, I want to know if what I described can be accomplished.

I'm using Captivate 2017 on MAC OS Sierra.

Thanks.

Hi Loxx,

Yes and no. You should be able to set the Vimeo video with no controls, which will automatically pop a play/stop button in the middle. You would do this on Vimeo site, not in Captivate.

You will not be able to add stop/start/FFW/Rewind if you choose this option, but it will allow you to show/hide the web object without it beginning to play automatically.

If that doesn't resolve your issue I have another option.

Cheers
Steve

Thanks, Steve. Good to know.

Because the user has to click a button icon that's part of a flattened image to launch the video, I came up with this simple workaround:

When the user clicks the button icon, they are taken to the next slide, a duplicate slide, where the Vimeo video then autoplays. The user doesn't know any better.

... and that would have been my second option : )

Glad you resolved it.

Cheers,
