I downloaded a trial version of Captivate and my organisation purchased a registration key separately and gave it to me.  So I have an activated product (which I had to do via the text file method because other methods were blocked) but I when I put the registration number into 'my products' for my Adobe account to add it to my list of products, the number is rejected as invalid, what do I do.

Thanks

I think you will find that the purchased license is attached to a particular Adobe ID, usually of the person that made the purchase. So it won't usually be possible (as far as I know) to attach it to another Adobe ID.

Hi,

As you mentioned that the serial number has been accepted by the product during activation, that means the serial number is valid.

I suspect you may have a Volume License serial number which is why you might be getting this error when tryng to add it under your products on Adobe.com.

Adobe Volume License serial numbers are managed via your Organization account in Adobe Licensing Website and hence, cannot be added under your products on Adobe.com.

For single user licenses, in case the product is already regsitered under a different Adobe ID, in that case you would usually see an error related to Serial number being registered under a different Adobe ID when trying to add it again under another account.

You may check with the person who gave you the serial number whether it is under the Licensing website to verify if it is a Volume license or contact support to get your serial number checked.

Regards,

Sharad
