Adobe Captivate 7 Subscription Transfer

New Here ,
Apr 01, 2014 Apr 01, 2014

Our office has a single subscription to Captivate 7 under the Adobe ID of employee #1. Now this work assignment is being transferred to employee #2 on a different workstation, so we need to move the subscription too. Billing, to a company credit card, will not change.

If C7 were managed under our CC Team account that would be simple for me to do, but annoyingly C7 is not part of CC. For obvious reasons I don't want employee #2 to sign in with employee #1's Adobe ID, and in any case employee #2 already has his own Adobe ID in use for CC.

I could start a new C7 subscription and cancel the original, except it's a 12 month subscription so there may be some penalty.

So what do we do?

Moving this discussion to the Adobe Captivate forum.

NeilM if you are trying to manage your subscription then I would recommend reviewing Manage your membership and payments | Creative Cloud - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/membership-subscription-troubleshooting-creative-c....

As a CC Team admin I'm familiar with switching members of my team, but unfortunately that doesn't cover this type of case where the subscription is individual.

I did an online chat with Adobe Customer Service. There's no procedure to move subscriptions between individuals, but here's their suggestion:

Neil: So what do I do? Can I cancel, then resubscribe? It's important that Adobe understand that this is a common situation in companies. We buy or subscribe to software, employees come, go, change.

Seiminlen: We understand your concern Neil. This could be avoided in such a way that the both the account holder and the successor should agree to change the email address under the subscription before the account holder left the company.

Neil: OK, I see how that could be made to work. I'll give it a try when we're ready to make the switch. Thx.

I'm not quite sure, but we'll see if that works.

Neil

OK, looking at this in detail I can see that the above isn't going to work.

It might if employee #2 (future would-be recipient of the C7 subscription) did not already have his own Adobe ID, but because he does, and already has his own subscriptions that need to be preserved, something's going to get borked in the process. The same considerations also apply to employee #1.

This reveals a serious fault in Adobe's subscription model administration as far as use by businesses goes. In the old days, say with CS5, I'd simply deauthorize/uninstall CS5 on employee #1's computer, then install/authorize on employee #2's. And now with our CC Team subscription I can deauthorize one user and invite a new one in her place. But with this standalone C7 subscription we're stuck.

This is not good.

Neil,

As of now Captivate subscription cannot be transferred to another Adobe ID.

You can deactivate Captivate from one computer and activate on another, but on another computer you will have to use same Adobe ID with which Captivate subscription was purchased.

In this case, we can cancel the subscription, and you can place another order for Captivate subscription with different Adobe ID, could you send an e-mail to tcssup@adobe.com under my attention.

Thanks.
