CP9 project freezes after opening a MS Word document link.

The project plays fine until the slide where there is a link to open a word document in a different window.  If you open the link  then come back to the CP9 project the project will not advance.  The playbar doesn't show a play arrow like it normally does when you pause a project.  This project ignores  the forward arrow and table of contents to move forward.  If you don't open the MS Word document link then the forward arrow works but there still isn't a play arrow on the play bar.  This is being hosted on a web server.

Thanks in advance for any help.

That is strange! Do you open the Word document in another window or in the same window as the course?

It opens in a new window.  I thought maybe you needed to close the word doc before proceeding but that didn't work either.  If you choose to open the document then the project stays stuck on that slide.  If you don't open the document then it will advance with the forward/next arrow but the play/pause button continues to show the pause symbol and not move forward.  Could it be that we need to convert the document to a PDF?? The developer used a smart shape as a button the an open URL or file action.  It is set for Infinite attempts but there wasn't a continue playing project option.  We are experimenting with him using a smart shape but to link with the text in the smart shape rather than having the smart shape be a button.  We did a preview and it showed the play button when the project paused.  Now we'll need to test it on the server.

That option 'Continue playing the project' was new in CP9. Did the developer use an older version?

You are using a hyperlink now, which doesn't have the option to stop 'Continue...' as was the case in the past for buttons as well.

That is another odd thing.  He is using CP9.  But I didn't even see the option grayed out.

Suggestions: Under Actions tab for On Success, Make sure "Continue Playing the Project" and Infinite Attempts" are both selected.
