Javascript to close an application

New Here ,
May 02, 2008 May 02, 2008
I'm trying to close my application using 'button'. Here's the steps which I followed
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=238f7842
but when I publish and view the .swf file it opens Adobe Flash Player Security dialog box and when I click on settings it takes me to this page http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04a.html
Even after making this particular file to be trusted always, it doesn't work.
Is there any other settings which I have to set???

I am not an expert but this topic has been around the forums for a while but in the General Discussion area. Try this link.

You can also do a search in General discussion and there are several topics for this issue that may give another answer. It is always a good idea to search for the topic before posting one.

From my perspective if you want a captivate project to close when it is done just go to the Edit menu, Preferences, Project, Start and End and select the way you want the project to end.

Hi JLRiley

Thanks a lot for ur reply. I got some help from the previous post from the link provided by you. I am not using java script to close the application as there are browser issues but got a work around which is working fine. On click of the button it jumps to the last slide a after some seconds it closes the application.

What application are you trying to close (Flashplayer, Internet Explorer, etc.)?

Hi opspl

Can you let me know how you got your work-around as I'm having the same problem. Although no good at scripting I tried an earlier bit of advice and inserted 'window.close' as javascript but that doesn't appear to work. Any help would be most appreciated.

Kind regards
Kevin
