According to this article : http://help.adobe.com/en_US/captivate/cp/using/WS6731CB31-942C-479a-9B20-D088F479A765.html , Captivate 6 exports preferences to an xml file with a .cpr extension. I've tried opening Captivate 6 cpr files with an XML editor, but it doesn't work. To me, the file appears to be a binary file.
XML editor works fine with Captivate 4 produced cpr files. Can anyone confirm that the cpr files in Captivate 6 are in fact valid XML files?

Hello,
Welcome to Adobe Forums.
As per my understanding Prefernces are exported as an XML but you can edit them, you can only import them.
Thanks,
Vikram

If they can't be edited, then they're not XML.
