Pasted Chinese Characters Become Boxes

New Here ,

Greetings all.

I need to translate a Captivate 5 project into simplified Chinese. Many of the characters translate perfectly (博), but many others come out as boxes with an X in the middle. This is pretty frustrating. I have a file in my captivate directory called

CaptureTextTemplates_Chinese-Simplified.rdl, so it seems that this language is supported.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Karl

Problem solved, and I will post this for the benefit of anyone following with the same problem.

The fault was not with Captivate, but that the font did not have full character support. Selecting MingLiU (which I am told is commonly used in newspapers and books, therefore familiar to users) as the font cleared up the issue of the boxes.

I am using Captivate 5.5. I spent a lot time trying to figure this one out (very annoying!). I am copy and pasting Chinese out of PPT. PPT is using 'SimHei' font. The Adobe font that recognized the paste was 'Adobe Heiti Std'. This made my boxes with X's turn into Chinese symbols. I checked them against the PPT, and they look the same. I hope this helps someone.
