Hi everyone.
I am producing a software simulation in Captivate that consists of a demo and then an assessment of a computer application that we have here in my company.
The recorded demo would obviously show the user how to use it and the assessment would be the part where the user would have to figure out which buttons to click to proceed right through to the end etc.
My question is, if the assessment has been set up so that the user would get a score for every correct click which gets added to a total (score) at the end of the assessment, would they actually see this score at the end? I was just wondering if they would see their results in the same way that they would see a score and a percentage as they do with a conventional Captivate quiz with multiple choice answers etc?
OR would this total be recorded in the Learning Management System so that it can viewed?
Could this be set up so that the user would get a score of 1 point everytime that they click the correct part of the screen the FIRST time and score 0 points otherwise?
I have been looking at the settings in Captivate and there is an option to Report Answers and I am wondering how does this work? How do you evaluate how well a user has done in these types of assessments? Do these assessments only work in the sense that the user only goes to the next screen after clicking on the right part of the screen and at the end I can add a static screen stating “Well done! You have reached the end of the assessment.” Is there anyway to report how well the user has done to the LMS?
I look forward to your help in advance.
Thanks
Keith

You can add a score slide, just like for a normal quiz, with this difference that it is not added automatically. Go into Quiz, Preferences, Settings to show Quiz. Allowing Review has no real sense, because CP will do nothing to show the correct click locations. The automatically added click boxes with their score can be easily found in the Advanced Interaction panel (F9), use it to edit the number of attempts for each click box, this panel is linked automatically with the Properties panel.
Reporting score to a LMS is not different from the one for question slides. Every scored object, whether an interactive object or a question slide, that shows up in the Advanced Interaction panel as being included in the total score will be in the system quizzing variables.
Or you can create a custom score slide using the system quizzing variables. Maybe find some inspiration in this blog post:
Intermediate Score Slides - Captivate blog
Since you want only 1 point as score for the first attempt, change the number of attempts to 1. Check the actions Success and Last Attempt. Maybe you'll want to make them identical. Default actions are Go to Next Slide for the Success event, and Continue for the Last Attempt event.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
