Using the Skip Question Function in Quizzes

I am using Captivate 3. My users want to be able to go through a graded quiz, skip questions and return to answer them later --before their score is final. The help screens indicate that this is possible:

"If you want to give users the opportunity to skip a question and return to answer it at a later time, add a Skip button. This button is optional, but can give users greater navigation control as they work through quizzes."

After users answer the last question in a quiz, the Results screen appears and it is not possible for them to return to the skipped questions.

What advice do you have about effectively using the Skip function and explaining it clearly to users?

Thanks,

Hi evons

I am going to go out on a very shaky limb here (to quote from another post many moons ago).

Add another slide just before your Results slide with a button that takes users back to the first question slide, thus allowing them to work through all the questions again. Haven't tested this, but the theory works for me. Obviously you would also have a Continue burron on the same slide that moves forward to the results slide.

Being a vary lazy type by nature, I would appreciate it if you could let me know on the success or failure of the above. Thus alleviating my need to test the same :)

PS Any of you other geniuses out there with another idea are welcome to climb in on this one!!!

This solution works just fine! Thank you very much.

The only limitation is that, after returning the student to the first question, Captivate does not clearly mark which questions have been submitted and which skipped. The answers are grayed out on the submitted questions, but they don't stand out to the student. Previously submitted questions can't be changed while skipped questions can be submitted. I wrote instructions to explain the process. We will be getting some user feedback to see how well people understand the process.

Thanks again.
