Windows Exe closes on Enter Key

New Here ,
Aug 06, 2010 Aug 06, 2010

Hello! I'm using Captivate 5 on a Windows 7 64Bit machine. The issue I'm having is when I launch a project published to Windows Executable(Full Screen). It play fine however users are closing the file when they hit the Enter key on their keyboard. Previous .exe projects published in Captivate 2/3 would only exit upon entering the Esc key.

Has anyone experienced this issue?

Thanks.

Hello.  I was curious if a patch or solution has been found for this issue... ?

It is very difficult to use a text extry object in our lessons.. unless of course we also add a command in the lessons that says, "DO NOT hit the Enter key

- otherwise this entire program will exit."  Please help!!!

Hi Sikandar,

You wrote "We are aware of this issue and are working on this."... however, that was 36 business days ago.  Have you found a solution yet?

Please let me know,

thank you,

Hi,

Here is the solution: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2010/08/unable-to-open-exe-files-published-from-adobe-captivate-5.html

Do the above steps. Also, we have been giving this link to the users from the past couple of weeks on forums, so had assumed that you would be aware of this.

Nevertheless, sorry for your inconvenience.

Thanks,

Sikandar

Hello Sikandar,

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.  However, the link you sent

me below is not relevant to the issue I wrote about in the forum.

I want to know when your team has solved the issue of the Enter key

causing a Captivate .exe file to automatically close.

My two entries can be found here:

http://forums.adobe.com/message/3172440#3172440

The solution you sent me (see below) addresses the issue on users unable

to open exe files.

Please send me a similar link regarding the Enter key behavior.

Thank you in advance,

Hilarie Anne Sellers

Hi,

This resolves the Window Exe close issue as well if you replace the Fakeflash.exe in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5\ExecutablePublish.

Try it and let me know.

Thanks,

Sikandar

I am also having this problem. I am currently on the trial version, and if this problem is not resolved we may need to choose a different software for our eLearning solution.

I am using Captivate 5 on a Windows 7 machine. I tried downloading the patch and discovered that it was already included in the trial version I had downloaded.

Thanks for the suggestion. The first patch I already had, and the second one does not apply to me because I did not upgrade from Captivate 4.

I installed the last one, and it helped a functionality problem I was having with my quizzes when published as SWF. Now they all work except for my sequence question.

The EXE still closes when I hit enter.

I'm so sorry to hear that.  We had a problem with our sequence questions too, but I think that was solved for us moving to CP5.  We are still on XP, so maybe that is the problem?  have you tested on an XP environment?  Not that it helps, but if you can narrow it down, then adobe will help you more... so be as specific as you can with the error and write as clearly as you can so they know exactly what is causing the error.

I would try a different flash player also, that was a problem for us (but I think the third patch i sent you solved that issue)... it's hard to keep them all straight.

I'm an old authorware user and I'm not used to this much frustration either.....

Good luck.
